Media week awards 2006 - Make it a night to remember

The great and the good of the media world gather later this month for the presentation of the glittering prizes that are the Media Week Awards. Julia Martin sets the scene, while the 2006 finalists are listed opposite.

Time flies when you're having fun, so it's no surprise to discover we are once again at that time of year when media's greatest go head to head for the ultimate accolade.

The Media Week Awards had a facelift last year, placing more emphasis on rewarding the industry's big ideas. This year we have gone even further, adding new categories to acknowledge the way media continues to change. The 2006 Awards will reward the best global work with the introduction of the International Campaign category, team work with its Collaboration category and the best new thinking with a Media Innovation award.

The big night is 25 October and the winners will be announced on the evening at the Grosvenor House in London's West End.
