Former ITV broadcasting chief executive Mick Desmond has been appointed as executive chairman of Channel Television, the ITV Channel Islands franchise holder. He will take up his new role on 2 October, and will report to David Fordham, group media director of Channel TV's owner, Yattendon Investment Trust.

Andrew Baxter has joined BBC Worldwide as head of commercial policy. He will be responsible for protecting the BBC's brand reputation and ensuring that the corporation competes fairly in the marketplace. Baxter was previously director of commercial affairs for Paramount Comedy at Viacom and has also worked for broadcaster Channel 4 as deputy head of commercial affairs.

Fremantle Media has appointed former RTE head of digital Declan Caulfield as executive producer of FMX, a newly created division responsible for developing and producing personalised and participatory media entertainment across platforms.

IPC Country & Leisure Media has promoted Adrian Booker to the position of associate publisher of its sports titles, with primary responsibility for Shoot Monthly and World Soccer. He was previously marketing manager for the sports magazines.

Steve Blakeman, the former managing partner of Manchester-based PHD North, has been appointed as channel strategy director for Initiative Asia Pacific. Blakeman's new role will take him from Europe to Singapore, where he will report to the regional chief operating officer, King Lai.

I-level Group has appointed Peter Suchet as marketing director, responsible for marketing for both I-level and its Generator Consulting business. Prior to joining I-level, Peter was business development director at PDV Ltd, an online direct marketing company.

Peter Castenfelt, chairman of Metro International SA, has resigned from the board due to personal reasons, effective immediately. Metro's board of directors has elected Dennis Malamatinas to replace him. He has been a director of the board since May 2004 and was formerly CEO of Burger King Corporation worldwide.
