TalkSport will start transmitting across Northern Ireland on DAB this week. The station is already available in Northern Ireland on Freeview, Sky and digital cable platforms. TalkSport has 2.1 million listeners, 17% of whom listen via a digital platform, with 9.5 per cent via DAB digital radio.
Scott Taunton, chief executive of TalkSport, said: "Our timing could not be better. With our live commentary from each game of the World Cup, we are now able to offer our listeners even more choice.
"It's great that our listeners in Northern Ireland can enjoy the same coverage and insightful analysis as the rest of the United Kingdom."
As well as adding Northern Ireland to the station's digital platform, Taunton has said he is committed to developing other ways of transmitting TalkSport's coverage.
"TalkSport will continue to pioneer new digital platforms. Aside from broadcasting in Germany during the World Cup on DAB, the station has completed two test broadcasts on DRM platforms both in the UK and across Northern Europe," he said.
UTV Radio also owns 18 local stations, including Juice FM in Liverpool and Talk 107 in Edinburgh.
