Fashion Music Television to launch on Sky next year

Fashion Music Television, a new music, fashion, entertainment and lifestyle digital TV channel, is to launch on the Sky Digital platform next year. Ph5, a digital media company, which launched in July, has won the airtime sales and sponsorship business for the channel.

Newsweek cuts costs in bid to go upmarket

Newsweek is reducing its circulation by 30% across Europe and lowering its advertising rates by 25%. The objective is to drive down costs and comes at the same time as the international news weekly tries to reposition itself as a more upmarket title.

JCDecaux appoints new regional sales director

JCDecaux has appointed Martin Jackson as director of regional sales, reporting to group sales director Spencer Berwin. Jackson, who joins from UTV Radio (formerly the Wireless Group), will be responsible for growing JCDecaux's business outside London, including the planned expansion of its Premiere portfolio.

The Sunday Herald becomes latest to go compact

The Sunday Herald is going compact from this weekend, the first Scottish national Sunday newspaper to make the move. The newspaper will now include five regular sections – news, sport, business and recruitment, Seven Days, the magazine, and Fresh, its monthly magazine for young readers. Rival daily The Scotsman went compact last year.

Loaded takes to the small screen in February

IPC Media's Loaded, like Emap rival FHM, is to enter the world of television with a branded programme on TMF, the music channel that is part of MTV Networks. The Loaded Hour will air on TMF from 6 February next year from Monday to Friday.

Mick Desmond joins Avanti Screenmedia board

Former chief executive of ITV Broadcasting, Mick Desmond, has re-emerged in his first role outside of ITV, joining the board of in-store television network Avanti Screenmedia as a non-executive director. Desmond will help to drive up advertising sales as the company invests a fortune in its network of screens in retail outlets, pubs and shopping malls.

Cobra Beer extends movie sponsorship to ITV4

Cobra Beer has become the first broadcast sponsor on ITV4 and extended its "CobraVision" movie sponsorship deal to take in the new digital launch and renew its existing deal on ITV2 and ITV3, for a further 12 months. As well as the sponsorship package, estimated to be worth £1.2m, Cobra is also set to make its debut into spot advertising on ITV1 for the pre-Christmas period.

Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty set for GMTV

Unilever brand Dove is to continue its "Campaign for Real Beauty" theme with sponsorship of the LK Today show on GMTV, in a one-month deal which kicks off in January. The deal was negotiated between GMTV and MGA Broadcasting, Unilever's sponsorship agency. The sponsorship credits, produced by Ogilvy, will feature women in many shapes, sizes and ages.

UBC Media news service to reach 9.7 million listeners

UBC Media has won a new contract win for its syndicated daily entertainment news service, boosting its weekly reach by 20% to 9.7 million adult listeners across the UK. The group of 17 radio stations acquired by Emap from Scottish Radio Holdings has signed up to take the package from this month, bringing the total of stations carrying the service to 137.
