Handbag.com clinch major ad deals

Women’s lifestyle website, Handbag.com has signed a raft of advertising deals with cosmetic and luxury brands in the run up to Christmas.

Cosmetic giant Avon and luxury brands, Seiko Pulsar and Swarovski, have each signed Christmas advertising deals with the website, in a move to target “High Street” weary online shoppers.

Bosses claim the deals illustrate a growing confidence amongst retail marketers willing to commit ad spend to the online medium.

Ruth Brownlee, sales director at Handbag.com, said: “Advertisers realise that destination websites such as ours cannot be ignored as a route to consumers.

“Online shopping has not taken over high street shopping yet, however there is a growing trend towards shopping from home and retailers hoping to make the most of critical shopping periods, need to be where their customers are looking.”

It will be the first time that Seiko Pulsar uses the internet to promote its brand.

Avon’s campaign will see a mix of transitional and pop-up advertising, appearing on both the handbag homepage.
