Change of ad operations structure for IPC Media
IPC Media has announced a major restructuring of its advertising operations. The reshuffle will include the appointment of a new IPC group advertising director to head the department after the departure of IPC Advertising’s managing director, Georgina Crace, to join Trinity Mirror as the group’s regional newspapers’ managing director.
Internal promotion to fill Zed’s MD vacancy
Zed, the digital arm of ZenithOptimedia, has appointed Greg Grimmer as managing director. Grimmer – currently executive director at themain agency and a member of the board – will take up this position from the end of January 2005, replacing Jeff Hyams, who last month announced his intention to take up a European management position at Meidaedge:cia.
Company claims media first withTV/music downloads
Video Networks has announced it is to launch the first TV-to download music service. The company has signed a deal with 7 Digital Media to allow HomeChoice customers to purchase tracks as they watch them on Video Network’s V:MXmusic channels.
Sponsorship deal struck for live dance music DAB offering
MXR Digital has brokered a deal with radio manufacturer Pure Digital to sponsor the exclusive DAB digital broadcast of Hed Kandi’s Winter Wonderland Christmas Party, which is expected to see 3,000 ravers flock to club Canvas in London on Sunday. It is the first paid-for DAB digital broadcast and will run from across the Galaxy Network, on its digital platforms.
ITV passes halfway mark in £500m non-core asset sale
ITV’s massive disposal of non-core assets has exceeded £260m since the summer, after it sold The Moving Picture Company for £52.7m to Thomson. The deal for the post-production facility comes after similar deals to offload Carlton Books, Village Roadshow and ITV’s own stake in Thomson.
Record month for The Sun online, despite content cutback
The Sun Online boasted a record month in November, despite a recent reduction in editorial content. News Group Newspapers took the decision to cut the site’s editorial coverage after discovering some 90,000 readers a day were reading The Sun Online, rather than buying the paper.
Leading agency signs up for online-effectiveness system
MediaCom has become the first UK planning and buying agency to sign up for a new system to measure the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns. The Market Norms service is provided by independent research company Dynamic Logic Europe and is based on data from 1,400 online campaigns.
Disney channel strikes deal withTelewest
ABC1, the UK entertainment channel owned by Walt Disney TV, has signed a multi-year deal with Telewest Broadband, which launched the channel into over one million digital homes on 10 December. Launched on Freeview channel 15 in September, ABC1's expansion marks the first stage of a multi-platform roll-out
