Mediaedge:cia picks up United Airlines and Citibank business

The Evening Standard has completed the overhaul of its ad sales team with the appointment of Claudette Laws as its new head of planning. Laws joins the London evening paper from The Independent, where she was head of the broadsheet's strategic planning team Independent Solutions.

Mediaedge:cia has picked up two pieces of new business from United Airlines and Citibank.

Mediaedge:cia, which already handles Citibank's $20m account in Hong Kong, has been assigned to handle the client's outdoor business in the US.

The win strengthens the financial client's relationship with the agency, which handles media assignments for Citibank throughout Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia.

The win moves the US business from Aegis-owned Outdoor Vision unit.

The creative business remains at Fallon in the US.

Mediaedge:cia has also picked up the majority of United Airlines' international media planning and buying, including Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

The international planning and global buying had been managed by Zenith Media since July 2001.

Media in Japan and Brazil will continue to be managed by ADK and Fallon Sao Paulo.
