WPP appoints four senior executives to Tempus board

WPP has appointed four senior executives to the board of Tempus in its first move since taking control of the advertising group last week.

Finance director of WPP Christopher Sweetland will sit on the Tempus board, alongside The Media Edge chief executive Charles Courtier, TME Europe chief Hans-Willem Germeraad and TME finance director Tom Handy.

WPP chairman Sir Martin Sorrell finally accepted the City Takeover Panel's ruling that it would have to purchase Tempus for the original bid price of £432m, and the group is now waiting for the deal to reach completion.

Sorrell is expected to merge Tempus's media buying house CIA with its TME network, a move which would lead to the creation of a £10bn global agency.

The decision as to who would head up the UK operation has yet to be made, but likely candidates include CIA UK's chief executive Fiona McAnena and its managing director James Whitmore.
