Zenith Media managing partner Tap Chauan has left to join digital advertising agency Beyond Interactive as an account director.
He is one of several new senior appointments as the agency – previously known as Media 21 – beefs up ready for European expansion. The agency has also hired Gary Jones, an associate director at Booth Lockett Makin.
The growth follows the acquisition of digital media specialist Media 21 by Beyond Interactive, part of Grey Worldwide, this year.
Rick Sareen, regional director for Europe, said the agency had grown from three people in January 1999 to more than 45 staff following the latest recruitment drive. Chauan would be responsible for a “significant bulk” of the agency’s business as well as looking after new business, he said.
Since the acquisition by Grey Worldwide, the agency has extended its proposition and now provides a full-service media and creative offer. Last month it launched an emerging digital platforms consulting division, focusing on interactive TV, WAP, SMS and e-mail advertising solutions.
Graham Duff, Zenith’s UK chief executive, said the agency was not looking to replace Chauan, a planning specialist. The agency’s 30-strong planning department will continue to be overseen by managing partner Gerry Boyle.
