Boots strategic decision to pass all its marketing communications requirements to WPP means that the company, which operates a range of brands including Boots The Chemist and Boots Opticians as well as products such as recently acquired Clearasil, skincare brand E45 and analgesic Nurofen held within its Crookes Healthcare subsidiary, has the choice of a range of communications services within the WPP walled garden.

Creative: J Walter Thompson continues as incumbent for Boots The Chemist brand and along with the No. 7 cosmetic range and the Boots Opticians accounts.

Media: MindShare will take over from OMD UK, Boots

strategic planning and buying for Boots The Chemist, Boots Opticians, Halfords, and Crookes Healthcare.

Market research: Millward Brown and Research International.

Public relations: Burson Marsteller and Hill & Knowlton.

Brand Consultancy: Landor Associates.

WPP also owns a range of other specialists such as strategic marketing consultants The Henley Centre and Outside the Box, direct marketing shops such as OgilvyOne Worldwide and media and technology companies such as The Farm and Metro Group.
