My first taste of media was during my student years as a freelancer for Time Out’s music section, making me very popular at the union bar!

In June 1995, I joined the Media Group as a PR account executive, primarily responsible for generating exposure for brands such as CIC Video, Virgin Records and Gordon’s Gin across all media.

Within a year, I was specialising in implementing radio PR campaigns and promotions, including radio roadshows for brands such as Del Monte and Continental Airlines.

In 1998 I moved to the broadcast consultancy USP, producers of Kirsty Young’s Talk Radio Breakfast Show.

I introduced a new dimension to USP’s services by developing a successful radio PR wing for agencies and blue chip clients. I was also responsible for creating broadcast solutions for dynamic brands such as Guinness, British Telecom and Letsbuyit.com.

As radio adapts to a new technological and more sophisticated communications era, I was eager to get involved in the medium.

I recently joined the XY Network, Europe’s first on-demand interactive audio entertainment service for WAP phones.

XY Network is owned by the UK’s leading radio production company, Somethin’ Else. It is the audio partner for BT Cellnet through its mobile ISP, Genie, and has a developmental agreement with Ericsson.

I am thriving in the role of introducing XY Network’s unique interactive marketing potential to blue chip clients and agencies.

Justine Hendry is an account manager at the XY Network.
