'Broadchurch' picked up Best Drama Series, Olivia Colman won best actress for her role as DS Ellie Miller in the ITV drama and its creator Chris Chibnall won the BPG Writer's Award.

Ferrari, the breakfast show presenter on Global Radio's newly national LBC, picked up the award for BPG Radio Broadcaster of the Year two days after chairing the debate between Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage.

Rewarded for his consistently thought-provoking show, as well as the weekly 'Call Clegg' innovation, Ferrari was the first commercial radio winner of a BPG Award since 1993, when Classic FM's Susannah Simons won Best Radio programme.

The members of the BPG, journalists who write about TV and radio, voted for the winners of the awards, which were held at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and were sponsored by the Discovery Channel.

Channel 4 also won three awards. 'Syria: Across the Lines' got the prize for Best Single Documentary, Best Documentary Series went to 'Educating Yorkshire' and the BPG award for Best Factual Entertainment went to 'Gogglebox'.

BSkyB picked up two awards including the Innovation Award for 25 years of Sky Television and Best Multichannel Programme for 'The Tunnel'.
