Carvosso will join Bauer's executive board. She will assume total strategic and profit and loss responsibility for the London-based magazine brands.

Her new remit includes Heat, Closer, Grazia, Yours, Kerrang, FHM, Zoo, Mojo, Q, Empire, Top Sante, Wonderpedia and Mother & Baby.

She will continue to report to the Bauer Media chief executive, Paul Keenan, and to lead Bauer Media UK’s commercial strategy.

Nicky Holt, the publishing director of Heat and Closer, previously reported to Keenan, but will now report to Carvosso.

Carvosso has been in her current role since 2011 and has worked at Bauer Media UK, and predecessor Emap, since 1997.  She joined the business to work on the launch of Red magazine and was launch publisher for Grazia in 2005.

Keenan said: "Abby’s new role will ensure that we continue to grow and evolve as a forward-thinking, multiplatform business and use our expertise across the business to develop innovative, winning strategies for our world-class brands."
