More jobs go as ITV recasts commercial team

ITV is cutting more jobs as part of the ongoing review of its commercial team, with group account directors Jordan Wisbey and Steve Chambers believed to have left the broadcaster.

The departures are part of the wide review of ITV’s commercial team, which prompted the appointment of branded entertainment and digital sales director Gary Knight to the new role of commercial content director, last month.

ITV’s commercial sales team will be restructured into a client activation team and a multi-disciplined agency sales team around the main media agency groups, and it is expected that many job titles and roles will change.

Operations director Jill Kerslake’s team is unaffected.

As part of the changes, ITV is looking to appoint an additional sales director to work alongside Mark Trinder. Both sales directors will report to Simon Daglish, director of multiplatform and partnerships.

Below the sales director level, the six group account directors are expected to be replaced by four group sales controllers, and it is understood to be this change that has led to the departures of Wisbey and Chambers.

Having been at ITV and its predecessors TSMS and Granada since 1997, Chambers held a number of sales roles, rising from account manager, through planning controller, to key account director in November 2008.

Wisbey has worked at ITV since 2001, rising to sales group head, before becoming group account director 2007.

The broadcaster is also looking to appoint a strategic engagement director, who will report to Daglish.

It is understood that there will be a handful of further departures from ITV’s 340-strong team, as Fru Hazlitt, managing director of commercial and online, continues to reshape the business.

Hazlitt joined in August last year and first wielded the axe when she made the shock move to oust six senior executives from the commercial team, including group commercial director Gary Digby, in January, as first revealed here.
