Ads for summer sales appear in the papers while the tabloids launch a host of cover promotions.

Debenhams begins its summer sale, taking out a half-page in The Sun, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express.

Meanwhile John Lewis promises to match its competitor's prices "even when they have a sale on" in The Times.

The Daily Express offers a free lemon drizzle doughnut for readers through a tie-up with Greggs.

The Daily Mail offers readers a free family rail card in a cover promotion with National Rail.

The Guardian advertises its mobile news site with a half page.

The Sun continues its promotion of a free Lego toy with WHSmith and Toys R Us.

Vision Express takes out two consecutive ads in The Guardian offering a free eye test, while rival Specsavers advertises free varifocal lenses in The Times.

The National Lottery advertises a jackpot of £13m in The Sun, the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express and the Daily Mail today.

TalkTalk promotes a half-price broadband package in The Sun.

Sainsbury’s promotes savings of a third on pet food, telling readers of The Sun and The Guardian "they already act like members of the family, now you can afford to treat them like one".

Asda meanwhile promises "low prices on big brands" in The Sun, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Express, picturing brands including Warburtons, Walkers and Kraft.
