Car manufacturers take very different strategies in today's papers, while the tabloids encourage readers to place a bet at the Cheltenham races.

Peugoet advertises on its electric car, the iOn, in The Independent, highlighting its efficiency and environmental credentials.

Mazda takes a more materialistic approach, telling readers of The Independent they can "have it all", by buying a car "and then some", picturing bags of shopping.

Volvo takes out a full page in The Guardian, declaring "there's more to life than a Volvo" and recommending buyers "celebrate individuality … without breaking the bank".

Honda meanwhile takes out a full page in The Daily Telegraph to promise "better fuel economy, whatever the journey holds".

The daily Mirror continues its tie up with William Hill offering a £1 bet. The Daily Express and the Daily Star offer a £5 bet with Coral. But The Sun raises the stakes with a £6 Ladbrokes bet.

Barclays pictures a bath filled with marbles in its latest creative to advertise investment in ISA accounts. The bank takes out a full page in The Times and The Daily Telegraph.

Homebase takes out a full page in The Times, The Sun, the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express and the Daily Mail to promote its half-price sale.
