Tesco takes out double-page ads in The Daily Mirror and The Sun to showcase its party and festive foods, while Morrisons encourages shoppers to "stock up and beat the snow" by picturing that much-needed essential: beer.

Netto and Argos both include inserts in The Daily Mirror, while Sky takes out a four-page centre insert in The Sun to advertise its package deals.

John Lewis advertises laptops and computers in The Guardian under its "never knowingly undersold" tagline, while Very.co.uk advertises 70% off electrical beauty products by using its brand ambassadors Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby.

Dior pictures a diamond-encrusted watch in an ad in The Times, while Chanel pictures a white gold watch in The Daily Telegraph.

International Animal Rescue appeals to readers of The Times to "give the gift of loving care this Christmas".

And Cadbury advertises its hot chocolate in The Sun, wishing readers a "Happy Winter".
