Group revenue rose 9% to £59.2m, while pre-tax profits were up from £8m to £9.4m.
John McCann, group chief executive of UTV Media, said: "The first six months of 2010 saw a better trading performance due to the improving economic environment and the stimulus of the World Cup, and this improvement in trading appears to be continuing in the third quarter."
The group also highlighted the performance of Sport magazine, the free weekly it acquired in 2009, saying it had bolstered the performance of its radio division.
The magazine, the company said, had moved out of the red, to reporting an operating profit of £0.5m from revenues of £2.2m.
Its flagship radio station TalkSport – whose presenters include Mike Parry and Alan Brazil – reported a surge in revenues of 23% to £12.6m, helped by advertisers buying into its coverage of the World Cup.
Overall, its GB radio division reported a 38% lift in operating profit to £6.6m.
