British Gas is supporting those teams competing in international championships until 2012 and is aiming to raise awareness of the tournaments with an ad in The Times.

Sainsbury’s takes out a full-page ad in the Independent around the retail launch of Paramount Pictures' ‘Dexter’ series three on DVD. Meanwhile, HMV advertises series two of drama ‘Sons of Anarchy’, also in The Independent, demonstrating the battleground for entertainment sales, which is now firmly occupied by supermarket chains.

P&O advertises its early booking deals for 2011 in the Daily Mirror, while Network Rail alerts passengers to improvement works taking place on the Bank Holiday weekend that could delay trains, with an ad in the Daily Mail and the Daily Express.

Morrisons features its deals on health and beauty products in full-page ads in the tabloids, while Specsavers reminds parents that children are entitled to free sight tests over the summer break.

Mars take the unusual strategy of advertising a reduction in the size of its product, advertising its new smaller Mars bars in the Daily Mail. The brand is targeting readers who want to enjoy smaller portions of chocolate treats.

The Daily Mail highlights its Elvis DVD giveaway on its cover. The paper is running the offer for seven days and requires readers to collect tokens.
