McDonald's is advertising in The Sun today but is outshone by bakery chain Greggs, which has received a four-page write-up in The Guardian's G2 section praising its social conscience.

McDonald's runs an offer for a free coca-cola glass, advertising in The Sun. The giveaway follows similar offers which have proved successful for the fast food branch as customers aim to collect the set.

The Guardian's piece on Greggs, on which follows the appointment of a new PR agency in March, focuses on the bakery brand's mass expansion since its first shop opened in 1951 and states the chain now has more outlets than the Golden Arches.

Vodafone advertises its business services in The Sun and the Daily Mirror, asking readers to "challenge us to find a price plan that fits your business perfectly" while Lloyds TSB promotes its mobile banking service in The Daily Telegraph.

Discount department store TJ Hughes takes out a double-page spread in the Daily Mirror, picturing deals on anything from chairs to TVs.

Tesco tells readers to "clean up" on offers on cleaning products while both Lidl and Argos include inserts in the Daily Mirror.

The Daily Mail promotes its free Elvis DVD giveaway on Saturday. The film 'GI Blues' will be included free in the weekend edition.

Teletext Holidays advertises deals in The Daily Mail reminding readers of its new positioning, since it closed down its long-running information service last year.
