As BP tries to stay out of the press, competitor Shell advertises improved fuel, which it claims will last for longer and save the equivalent of a litre per tank, taking full page ads across several papers.

Argos advertises a clearance in The Sun and the Daily Mirror ahead of its new catalogue out on Saturday. The retailer has just launched a TV sponsorship to promote new items.

Asda runs a George branded ad across several papers, pushing its "must have" skirt for £10. The supermarket also tries to cash in on "'Toy Story 3' mania" highlighting branded toys in store. Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s highlights a summer wine offer across today's press.

Western Union takes an ad in the Daily Mail, pushing its "emergency cash" service to holiday makers, while Gatwick Express offers multiple ticket offers in The Independent, following on from its recent outdoor campaign.

Sky Sports takes a double page ad in the Daily Express highlighting forthcoming sporting events. The activity supports its newly launched TV campaign, pushing high definition coverage.

Pets At Home takes a full page in the Daily Mail and The Times advertising offers on pet food to thrifty pet owners.

Specsavers pushes the "stacks of choice" offered at its branches in The Daily Telegraph and promotes its hearing centres in the Daily Express.

Samsung advertises its Galaxy S Android handset in The Times and The Independent.

Coinciding with the Farnborough Air Show, Boeing takes an ad in The Times to promote its Schools Build a Plane Challenge while rival Airbus takes an ad in the Financial Times proclaiming the green and economical credentials of its new A380 plane.
