LONDON - Kim Iwanczyszyn, press director of MediaCom, is set to leave the agency next month after seven and a half years, to relocate to the US with her husband.

A member of MediaCom's board for the past year and responsible for press duties for a number of large clients, including GlaxoSmithKline, Iwanczyszyn is not being directly replaced.

As is the case at all other WPP agencies, MediaCom cannot replace Iwanczyszyn externally because the agency is subject to a company-wide hiring freeze.

According to Claudine Collins, managing partner and group press director of MediaCom, Iwanczyszyn's duties will be assumed within the roles of the agency's three press directors.

"We always aim to recruit and promote from within and such natural churn enables us to give our employees more responsibility," said Collins.

She added: "Kim is a great talent and will be missed immensely."

Before joining MediaCom in 2001, Iwanczyszyn was a senior planner/buyer at Manning Gottlieb Media, handling accounts that included Virgin Trains.

Iwanczyszyn started her media career as a planner/buyer at ZenithOptimedia in 1998.
