The company is making the investment in a bid to reflect the increasing importance of internationally sourced content for its channels, which include Disney Channel, Disney XD and Playhouse Disney.
The creation of the new series will be spearheaded by a 14-strong team based in London, led by senior vice-president of original planning, Marc Buhaj. He will help create two series for Disney Channel, four for Disney XD and one for Playhouse Disney.
The production hub was created in May 2007 to drive development of long-form animation outside North America, for both European and global distribution.
