The move brings the group into line with a growing number of publishers looking to mobile media apps to generate digital revenues.

The Empire Movie Guide, costing £2.99, will include more than 9,000 film reviews from the magazine. Once a film is reviewed in Empire magazine it will be added to the app for free. It also includes a "favourites" section that allows users to share reviews with friends on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

The app for Bauer's Kiss radio brand, Kiss Kube, claims to be a radio industry first, offering an app streaming both live and historic content.

Bauer Media chief executive Paul Keenan  said the new apps were "a new direction for Bauer Media". They will be rolled out this month and will be available from the iTunes store.

The app for Bauer's used car brand Parker's, which costs £2.99, will allow sellers and buyers to check more than 210,000 used-car prices instantly. Bauer claims the app will allow users to make on-the-spot adjustments to the mileage, condition and age of a car free of charge.

Last month, NME, IPC's flagship music magazine, announced it was launching an iPhone app that will allow users to view its rock photography on mobile phones for the first time.
And earlier this year, the Spectator appeared on iPhone, charging 59p for a week's subscription.
