The move brings an end to the joint leadership at the UK media agency, shared between Mendoza and managing partner Mark Craze, who will now become chief executive of the new group, referred to as HMUK.
The launch of HMUK follows a series of group acquisitions in areas such as ad-funded content, experiential, PR and event marketing. The network brings together all of Havas' five UK operating businesses, with the aim of ensuring group collaboration ahead of the expected economic downturn.
Along with Craze, Lord Watson has been appointed chairman of HMUK. Also sitting on its board are Steve Booth, chief executive Arena BLM; Jon Ingall, managing partner AIS; Mike Mathieson, chief executive Cake, Keith Impey, chief executive Havas Sports UK, Marc Mendoza, chief executive MPG UK and Mark Craze, chief executive HMUK.
Havas Media consists of media specialists MPG, MPG International and Media Contacts, in addition to sports communication consultancy Havas Sports; integrated communications agency Arena BLM, branded content and PR specialist Cake and digital agency archibald ingall stretton (AIS).
Alfonso Rodes, global CEO of Havas Media, said: "I am convinced that we are creating a new model of a full-service media network for the UK; one that is rich in award-winning talent everywhere you look, bursting with creativity and innovation and is defined by a spirit of collaboration in a distinctive entrepreneurial culture."
