Food - Asda Magazine dominates food setor

 

The food sector was dominated by customer magazines in the latest set of ABCs, with Publicis Blueprint's Asda Magazine in pole position.

The title neared three million in circulation, posting a 3.6% year-on-year increase to 2,907,325 copies. It was closely followed by Cedar Communications' Tesco Magazine, up 0.4% year on year to 1,951,020 copies.

Both supermarkets recently announced plans to launch a free games magazine to complement their existing in-store titles.

Also above the one million mark, Seven Squared's Sainsbury's Fresh Ideas achieved a 0.1% boost to circulation in the first six months of the year, to 1,508,909 copies.

PSP Rare's The Somerfield Magazine maintained fourth place in the market, despite a 2.4% fall year on year to 1,173,303 copies, a 2% drop period on period.

Of the consumer titles, BBC Worldwide's BBC Good Food attained a modest 0.5% rise in circulation year on year - although a 7.1% fall period on period - to 340,057 copies.

Seven Squared's paid-for Sainsbury's title, Sainsbury's Magazine, lost 11.3% of its circulation year on year, down to 308,175 copies from 347,437.

At the bottom of the pile in terms of circulation, BBC Worldwide's Easy Cook nevertheless notched up an impressive 23.2% increase in year-on-year circulation, to 81,484 copies.
