Investor acquires Golf Punk magazine

Independent magazine publisher JF Media has become the outright owner of Golf Punk, the golfing magazine set up two years ago by Tim Southwell, co-founder of Loaded.

Phil Babb, the former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland soccer player who runs JF Media, was one of the founding investors in the magazine, which aims to offer an irreverent, youthful take on playing and watching golf.
He said the company planned to acquire and develop further sports and lifestyle titles and would launch more international editions of Golf Punk. The magazine is currently published in the UK, Italy, Germany and Indonesia and will soon be launched in Sweden and four further countries in the first half of 2007.
Southwell, who was also editor-in-chief, will now leave the title to focus on new projects, leaving former travel editor Owen Blackhurst as editor.
Golf Punk recorded an ABC circulation figure of 18,801 in the January to June reporting period and JF Media claims it reaches around 80,000 readers.
